The Radical Agreement Project is quite proud to have provided a great number of improv classes to Indianapolis based companies, just as we are proud to have several excellent instructors within the city limits.

The leadership team at a major university's Student Activities Office in Indianapolis once hosted The Radical Agreement Project for an improv class. Interestingly, in the planning stage, they were very concerned about the ice breaker exercise. A year back they had an event with an ice breaker that went wrong.

Evidently everyone was asked to share an interesting story from the last week. Well, there were a lot of upsetting stories shared from the last week instead. So they didn't want that again!

Instead we settled on Name Circle.

In Name Circle all participants stand in a circle. Starting with the instructor, everyone takes a turn sharing their name and a quick story about a time they were proud of their name or happy to hear their name. This is a warm-up exercise to loosen up participants. The goal is simply to get everyone used to speaking/participating.

Since this particular warm up is over fast we added a second warm up you can do standing in a circle: Beastie Rap. In Beastie Rap everyone takes a turn creating one rap line that sounds like it will rhyme with the previous line. So two lines might be:

I went to the store to buy some eggs!
(This is a group interstitial) Bump ba da bum ba dump ba da bump ba da da
When I was in a frat we drank from beer bottles

It's fun and stupid and gets people laughing. A good warm up that does not offer participants the opportunity to share upsetting stories. Same thing about Name Circle since the exercise demands your story be a positive one.

We serve the greater Indianapolis area, including Downtown Indianapolis, Monument Circle, Mass Ave (Massachusetts Avenue), Broad Ripple, Keystone at the Crossing, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Greenwood, Avon, Zionsville

How about a small business meeting or even a gigantic conference housed inside a repurposed Coca Cola bottling plant? You might not be able to give the world a Coke, but you could give everyone at your conference access to an Indianapolis improv class!
