A Client Story
A repeat client from San Diego once challenged me by asking me to arrange for fifteen concurrent workshops at their annual business summit accommodating almost 300 professionals. Fifteen! Up until then the most concurrent workshops I had ever arranged for was seven, so I was a bit hesitant to take on the opportunity. Still the organization in question was an impressive healthcare company and I didn't want to disappoint them.
I said yes and started calling every instructor I knew right afterwards.
Ultimately I found the fifteen instructors (plus two alternates… just in case) and the event went off without a hitch. I have access to well over one hundred improv instructors with the proper experience and credentials to run an improv-based professional development workshop. But just because I know one hundred instructors doesn’t mean I know fifteen instructors who are all free on the same day. Fortunately I know a lot of great improv instructors in San Diego and even more in Los Angeles, not so far away.
I take pride in being able to meet any client's needs and if I couldn't have found fifteen instructors, I could have arranged for an interactive lecture that would accommodate such a large group. But I am happy I delivered just what the client ordered and I look forward to the challenge of arranging for more concurrent workshops at some point in the future.
It is not cost effective though to go with concurrent workshops over an interactive lecture. Ultimately this event cost my client almost $20,000 and that is without considering the cost of fifteen breakout rooms from the hotel/resort. If they had chosen to say yes to an interactive lecture, I could have provided an excellent event for 300 people in one conference room for a fee somewhere in the range of $5K to $8K.

A major metropolitan like San Diego is going to have it's 'prov no matter what local politicians and religious leader say. San Diego is no exception.
Finest City is the big dog in San Diego's improv scene. In every other scene it is pretty small. But it does offer the most improv classes and shows in the Diego.
The only improv theater in all of San Diego that asks the question, "What if we were a non profit?" not that for profit improv theaters have all that much profit. If you want a tax deduction wit your improv, this is the place!
Even though most people have never heard of it, The National Comedy Theatre is one of the few national brands in improv. They offer classes, shows and can boast of some great alumni!
