WORKING WITH US
RA treats every client and each event as a unique opportunity to demonstrate improv's transformative impact. Our events are tailor made experiences designed to unlock growth.
The Radical Agreement Project is based in the larger Virginia Beach footprint. We have organized and executed team building workshops, interactive lectures and performances in venues on the oceanfront, within Town Center, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Suffolk.
We find partnering with local hotels often provides our clients with the best venues for improv based team building workshops because their locations are flexible and amenities rich. We are happy to make recommendations of local hotels we feel provide services a cut above the rest.
Hotels aren't the only options. Meeting spaces, retreat locations and also coworking facilities often have interesting options in and around Virginia Beach. For example, a client wished to hold two concurrent workshops for their team of over 30 professionals, but wanted the event to not happen in a hotel. After a lengthy review we settled on Hub 757, a Chesapeake based meeting facility with a gorgeous decor, cutting edge AV equipment and delicious snacks.
This solution worked wonderfully for my client who held four days of meetings there before and after the improv workshops. I knew of the space because a previous client had held a similar event there and I was happy to make the recommendation. (The previous client happens to be the one I wrote this blog post on curriculum building about, in case you are interested).
Strong teams believe in each other and improv exercises are designed to cultivate that belief. The reason why is tied up in improv's inception as an art form by improv's founder, Viola Spolin. You can read about that history here, but for this page all you need to know is that it is in improv's DNA to encourage belief and support between teammates.
My client in this instance was having trouble with their rather large team. There had been some shakeups in recent months and there was a lot of finger pointing going on. Trust was low.
We worked together to design a curriculum that featured classic games that were certain to get the group laughing and having a good time together. That is so important, pushing a group momentum in the right direction. To get them out of the midset that there is something to resent and instead into the mindset that there is someting to celebrate.
Improv does that easily.

Improv - The Best Confidence Booster Out There!
I bet you’ve never looked at it that way before, but it’s true! The unknown is scary and improv is full of unknowns. Failure is scary and improv is full of failure.
But what it’s also full of are tools to teach us how to navigate the unknowns and the failures. We learn how to go with the flow,
follow the leader and lead the followers. We learn we don’t have to be afraid of the unknowns and the failures because we become more familiar with them.
Improv teaches us how to listen to and trust our instincts, which is helpful out in the real world. We also learn how to think outside the box, big time! You’re allowed to let go and play and see where your imagination takes you.
This can all be very freeing and a big boost to your everyday confidence. This can also free up your mind to come up with new and innovative solutions to any work problems you’ve been searching for.
We learn how to be more adaptable and accepting of things that aren’t expected and we learn how to navigate failure and how to help others out of the improv quagmires they may find themselves in. Believe it or not, this helps people become more resilient and graceful in everyday life. It also helps strengthen relationships and community, which, for me, is a big help
to my self-confidence levels!
It’s true- improv is pretty scary the first or second time around (or maybe each time around!). When we do scary things and come out on the other side of it, our self assuredness and confidence go way up! What improv teaches us is to embrace fear and failure, knowing that we’re going to get through it and we’ll likely get through it with a little help from our friends.
We might even get through it with a bit of laughter and fun, too!

"To date, I've attended 2 sessions of Radical Agreement's Improv Trainings for L&D professionals . Each session was delivered in a way that made the exercises accessible, un-intimidating, and something I feel able to turnkey to my employee population. I also walk away from each training with levity and joy--great reinforcement that these are skills worth bringing to the workplace!"
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect participants to laugh and bond while experimenting with improv strategies and their applications to workplace leadership challenges.
The laughter is intentional, with good reason:
Interactive exercises improve learning outcomes and motivation (Wang; Sözmen et al., 2021).
Humor enhances engagement and retention (Lei et al. 2010).
